Jacquelynn Waterman
President & CEO
Résumé
 |
Jacquelynn Waterman founded Thin Cow, Inc. in December of
2000 with 15 years experience in advertising and design. Her mission
in forming the company was to offer small and mid-size businesses
a leaner approach to marketing and advertising. Prior to launching
Thin Cow, Inc., Jacques vast skills were apparent as she advanced
through various positions with Philadelphia area advertising agencies,
interactive agencies, and design firms.
Trained in traditional paste-up in the mid-80s, her attention to
detail and computer proficiency helped her to quickly advance from
mechanical preparation to comping and graphic design while working
for Reimel Carter Advertising. By utilizing her broad creative talents
and her degree in Communication Design from Kutztown University,
Jacque was promoted several times during her employment with Kingswood
Advertising, and quickly became Art Director, which gave her more
creative control over the work she was producing for the clients
she managed.
In early 1994, Jacque was a key player in the creation of Kingswood
Interactive, a division focusing on Web and multi-media development.
Her organizational skills and attention to detail led her towards
project management, and she continued to work as an Art Director
for Kingswood Advertising while concurrently working as a New Media
Producer for Kingswood Interactive. As she managed print clients
such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and Bagel Builders, she
also supervised and produced the Comcast Cellular Web site, and
an interactive kiosk for The Civil War Trust.
When Kingswood was sold and became Backe Communications, Jacque
chose to focus her attention on Web development, and began discussing
options with US Interactive. Because Jacque had such a unique skill
set, USI created a new position for her, resulting in a new company
division. USI Studios was born to offer web site development at
a competitive rate structure. For limited budgets, Web sites were
developed by a single person, or a small, streamlined team of specialists.
On any given project, Jacque would be the account executive, the
information architect, the designer, and the programmer for the
entire initiative. More multi-talented specialists were added to
the Studios division, and the model was applied on a larger scale.
After 2 years, 5% of the USI employees worked under USI Studios,
but the Studios division consistently brought in 20-25% of the monthly
revenues.
As US Interactive and USI Studios continued to grow, Jacque was
becoming more of a manager, and less of a hands-on designer. Looking
to reconnect with the print industry once again, Jacque left US Interactive and began freelancing both web development and graphic design services. In December of 2000, she incorporated her freelance bisiness as Thin Cow, Inc.
As President of Thin Cow, Inc., Jacque continues to work according
to the USI Studios model. She operates primarily as a project manager,
pulling together the fewest number of individuals as possible in
order to control the overall budget. When necessary, she will pull
together specialists in areas such as printing, programming, and
copywriting, but even then continues to handle each client personally.
She is the senior account executive and art director for every Thin
Cow, Inc. project, and she is always thinking about how to increase
the value of her work by being able to provide more for less.
When she is not busy creating top-quality work for her clients,
Jacque occupies her time with pottery and painting.
